The Capability Development team is looking to engage a suitably qualified Business Analyst (BA) with a minimum of 5 years in a senior BA role, capable of taking technical responsibility across all relevant stages and iterations of software development.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to plan and drive business analysis activities, through the adoption of appropriate agile methods, tools and techniques. 

This is a senior role within the Business Analysis team and as such will be expected to contribute to policies, standards, frameworks and guidelines that support the achievement of security by design, WCAG 2.2 AA+ and Digital Service Standards. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analysis and engagement skills, including the ability to facilitate meaningful workshops with stakeholders both in-person and virtually.

The Lead Business Analyst will hold responsibility for uplifting the skills of the current BA team, mentoring less experienced team members, implementing standardised ways of working and facilitating quality control practices. 

The Lead BA must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with many priorities and multiple projects to oversee. With this in mind, they must also have demonstrated skills mitigating risks and resolving conflict.

The successful candidate should also comfortably demonstrate the ability to:Lead the introduction of techniques, methodologies and tools to meet business requirements, ensuring consistency across all team members.Lead the development of organisational capabilities for business process improvement and ensure adoption and adherence to policies and standards.Adopt a holistic view to identify and analyse wide-ranging problems and opportunities.Engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including those at the management level.Develop robust, trusting relationships and gain agreement from stakeholders to conclusions and recommendations.Implement methods and tools at programme, project and team levels including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards.Form, maintain and lead workgroups and individuals to achieve organisational objectives.Determine and delegate objectives and task responsibilities to individuals or teams.Set the quality, performance and capability targets in line with organisational goals.Facilitate individual development of skills and capabilities in line with team and personal goals, and encourage the development of individuals by adjusting workload, targets, and team capacity.Champion the importance and value of requirements management principles.Develop new methods and organisational capabilities for requirements management.Plan and lead scoping, requirements definition and priority setting for complex, strategic programmes.Consolidate expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives.Support and promote the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.Lead the development of comprehensive stakeholder management strategies and plans.Build long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders (internal and external).Please note: Salaries in the department are provided through its Enterprise Agreement. Additional remuneration may also be provided through Individual Flexibility Arrangements (IFA). These IFAs can be negotiated prior to commencement. To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General's Department applicants must be Australian citizens. 

Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level. The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
