Senior Officer & Team Leader, Privacy and Information Access The Senior Officer and Team Leader are key members of the Privacy and Information Access Team within the Legal and Enforcement Branch at AUSTRAC. Both positions involve working closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage the organisation's freedom of information (FOI) and privacy responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act).
Senior Officer Duties:
Assist the Team Leader and Manager with coordination of AUSTRAC's FOI and privacy functions. Process FOI applications, including complex ones requiring statutory interpretation. Supervise junior team members, allocate work, and review draft decisions. Prepare draft submissions for the OAIC concerning FOI decisions. Provide advice and draft privacy impact assessments. Educate AUSTRAC staff on FOI and privacy awareness. Assist with managing responses to subpoenas for information/documents. Help develop procedures and systems for best practices. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on privacy and information access matters. Team Leader Duties:
Coordinate AUSTRAC's FOI and privacy functions under the Manager's supervision. Support the Manager in leading FOI and privacy activities and initiatives. Manage complex privacy activities, including preparing impact assessments and privacy management plans. Liaise with the OAIC and prepare submissions about FOI decisions. Educate AUSTRAC staff on FOI and privacy awareness. Assist in developing procedures, systems, and best practices. Liaise with senior AUSTRAC management on privacy and FOI matters.
