Our client is a South Australian peak industry body.
With a long-established reputation, significant public standing and subject to strict regulation, it now seeks to employ a senior lawyer in a director level role.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and heading a mid-sized team of legal and non-legal staff, you will lead the regulatory function of the organisation and provide advice to the organisation and members on matters of ethics, practice and professional standards.
Ensuring that the standards of the regulatory regime are properly met, and exercising statutory functions delegated to the role, you will anticipate and respond to changes in the regulatory environment and use your highly developed legal skills to deliver honed legal advice, training and guidance.
This broad role will challenge you and provide a wide scope of interest, including preparation of advice and papers to a range of internal and external committees, managing staff from diversely skilled backgrounds, developing policies and training to members, at times appearing before Courts and Tribunals, working closely with external stakeholders, overseeing investigators, and reporting.

About you
An admitted legal practitioner with 10+ years of experience, you will have had a regulatory, compliance or professional standards focus and be committed personally to the highest standards of ethical behaviour.
Your strong legal background will be enhanced by your interpersonal and people management skills, and you will be able to communicate effectively with a range of personalities, including high-performing professionals and Court Officers.
You will be flexible in your approach, self-reflective, and able to work in a highly collaborative work environment, and enjoy leading and developing a team.
You will have a current unrestricted practising certificate.
