Aboutthe role and team We have anopportunity for a junior or mid-level lawyer to join our thrivingStatutory Insurance - Workers' Compensation practice in the ACT,working with two highly regarded partners and theirteam.
Our StatutoryInsurance NSW/ACT - Workers' Compensation section has approximately8 team members based in our Canberra office and forms part of ourbroader Statutory Insurance practice with around 120 people acrossNSW and the ACT.
Thesuccessful candidate will have between 2 and 4 years ofpost-admission experience in the defence of personal injury claims,specifically Workers' Compensation and ideally in the ACT orCommonwealth jurisdictions.
Keyresponsibilities You will beinvolved in a variety of matters including:
defending statestatutory class and common law claims arising in the ACTjurisdiction; advisinglicensees under the Commonwealth workers compensation (Comcare)scheme; advisingnational insurers, self-insurers and boutique insurers onissues concerning the ACT scheme and with the ACTregulator; runningclaims and litigation in a variety of Courts, including the ACTMagistrates' Court, ACT Supreme Court, the Court ofAppeal and the Federal Court of Australia; and actingon workers' compensation recoveries in construction sitematters, involving employers, head contractors and multiplesubcontractors. Skills andexperience We are keento hear from candidates with the following skills andexperience:
between2 - 4 years of post-admission experience; experience working inthe personal injury space, specifically Workers' Compensationin the ACT or on behalf of the Commonwealth (Comcare);and clear,concise legal writing skills with strong attention todetail.
