The LIG team supports the entire Woolworths Group. Within LIG, our legal team members provide thought leadership and professional and independent legal advice to secure optimum commercial outcomes, manage the company's risk profile and guide our teams to lead the market. About the opportunity

We are now seeking a new colleague with broad experience, and particular expertise in industrial relations and compliance matters. This role is a superb opportunity to use your specialist legal, business partnering and commercial acumen, to provide advice and support across a broad portfolio. This includes providing both strategic and day-to-day advice and also partnering on a range of employment litigation matters. The role is Group wide and supports businesses including Woolworths Supermarkets, Woolworths Metro, BIG W, online/digital businesses like WooliesX and Cartology, plus our supply chain/logistics business (Primary Connect) and various corporate functions.

What you'll do

No day is the same, and the scope of this role is very broad. On any given day, you may work across a wide range of matters, including:

Advising on Enterprise Agreement or Award strategy, interpretation, negotiations and related FWC applications (industrial disputes, EA approvals, industrial action).
Managing a range of escalated litigated claims including unfair dismissal, general protections, bullying, discrimination/harassment and other Court proceedings, including working with external panel law firms and Counsel.
Providing expert advice on escalated matters from a range of People teams, including grievances and investigations, compliance and remediation issues, work health and safety, reward and remuneration, restructures, and recruitment and restraints.
Reviewing, drafting and advising on key People policies, templates, contracts, processes and remuneration arrangements.
Various other issues including whistleblowing matters, responsible sourcing and modern slavery issues, privacy, restructures and corporate/M&A support.

What you'll bring

We're looking for an experienced legal professional who is highly capable, collaborative, passionate and who consistently strives for better ways of working.

You will have:
3-6 years PQE with a well regarded law firm and in house experience with a current Australian practising certificate
Strong background in employment law, with particular experience within a dynamic industrial relations context very valuable
Proven record providing commercially-minded advice and superior drafting capabilities
A resilient and collaborative professional who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity
Capable of building trusted relationships to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders, using balanced insights and impactful communication to influence decisions and actions.
