You will engage in complex, high-profile, and sensitive child protection litigation. This is an incredible opportunity to gain experience and exposure in a specialised field of law - ideal for any lawyer eager to tackle wicked and complex legal issues.
We are seeking candidates for future temporary P04 Lawyer positions. We will assess applications regularly as temporary vacancies arise and if deemed suitable, you may be contacted to determine your interest and suitability in the role.
Below are some of the general key responsibilities and technical skills for a P04 Lawyer with the ODCPL. If you are considered suitable for a position, you will be provided with a more specific role description at that point.
Your role

Undertake child protection proceedings, including preparing court documents and advocating in hearings.
Provide legal advice on court practices and procedures.
Conduct legal research and draft legal documents for senior lawyers.
Maintain compliance with quality and case management standards.
Engage with stakeholders to foster relationships and enhance service delivery.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection law.

About you

Excellent research and writing abilities.
Strong analytical and organisational skills.
Ability to manage workload effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
Ideally knowledge of or ability to acquire child protection litigation knowledge.
Admission, or eligibility for immediate admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland, and enrolment or eligibility for enrolment to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia.

$113,804 - $122,400 per year, plus 12.75 per cent super.
Temporary contract with the possibility of extension.

Additional Information:

Be admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland at least on a conditional basis within three months of the date of appointment.
An Open C class driver's license is a requirement, with the ability to drive to local Court locations.
Intrastate travel is required and includes same day and multi-day (overnight) travel.
