Your new role: As a Lawyer, you will play a pivotal role in the Legal Policy, Advocacy, and Professional Standards team, focusing on the Property and Environmental Law Section (PELS). Reporting directly to the Head of Legal Policy, you'll contribute to dynamic policy reform initiatives, collaborate on advocacy projects, and represent LIV in high-level engagements. Your key responsibilities will involve:

Drafting policy proposals and preparing written submissions.
Briefing LIV executives on pivotal issues affecting the legal landscape.
Managing PELS committees and working groups, including Property Law and Environmental Issues.
Collaborating on impactful law reform campaigns.
Monitoring emerging legal trends to initiate progressive policy solutions.
Building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders for collaborative policy development.
Ensuring accurate, high-quality contributions to the monthly property law column in the Law Institute Journal.

What you'll need to succeed: To thrive in this role, you'll need to bring a deep understanding of property law, a passion for legal advocacy, and experience in legal policy development. You will have a strategic mindset, combined with exceptional research and communication skills. Essential qualifications include:

Australian legal practitioner with eligibility for a Victorian practicing certificate.
Proven experience in property law, regulatory issues, and policy development.
High-level research skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation.
Exceptional project management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Collaborative, with demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement and conflict management.
