About the role: Due to the continued growth we have an exciting new opportunity for a Lawyer with 3-5 years' PAE to join the in-house Legal and Company Secretarial Team.
This varied generalist role includes providing advice across several areas of practice including commercial agreements, technology agreements, regulatory compliance, privacy and corporate law.
Working as part of a small team you will be responsible for providing strategic, commercial and solutions-based advice including transactional legal support services to senior management and other stakeholders in the Loan Market Group.
Key responsibilities: All aspects of the legal function as required to support Loan Market Group and any related entities. Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the business on a range of matters, including commercial agreements, technology agreements, M&A and policies, corporate structures and franchising law issues. Draft, review and negotiate contracts for all areas of the business that mitigate legal risk while facilitating commercial outcomes. Deliver outcomes to budget, reduce the reliance on external legal counsel and embed an effective procurement and contract management process for the Group. Advising, taking carriage of and reporting on significant regulatory issues and developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies, policies and processes. Remain abreast of legislative changes and developments and provide training and information updates to the business as required. Advise on commercial disputes, manage litigation matters for the business and instruct external counsel as required. Operate with high degree of professional ethics and integrity and gravitas. Liaise as required with external parties (brokers, lenders, external counsel). Undertake any other duties within your capabilities as may be reasonably required. Skills and Experience you'll bring to the role: Have 3 to 5 years' PAE. Hold a current, unrestricted QLD Practising Certificate or eligibility to acquire one. Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build lasting relationships across large and varied stakeholder groups. Demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts. Experience with consumer credit, technology agreements, privacy law or franchising highly regarded. Highly proactive and capable of working independently. Influencing and people management skills. Ability to work independently and juggle and prioritise multiple priorities.
