The Senior Lawyer position sits within a small but effective team as part of the larger multi-disciplinary team of legal, compliance and enforcement experts.
Job Description
The role
The Senior Lawyer position exists to contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives through legal, advisory and consultancy services.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, including executives, the board and wider employees
Advocating for the organisation in court or tribunal settings
Supporting enforcement action through advising on quality of evidence, prospects of success and engagement with outside counsel
Drafting legal documents and briefing notes on a wide range of issues and matters
Preparing reports, submissions, Ministerial responses and correspondence on a range of complex legal matters
Other duties as outlined on the PD
The Successful Applicant
The person
The ideal candidate for the Senior Lawyer post will possess a law degree as a minimum and ideally possess admission to or basis for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Exposure to core areas of the role, including preparation for prosecution, regulatory interpretation, contract law or advocacy, would be beneficial but not essential.

The successful Lawyer will receive a salary in line with public sector and government scales along with Super, enhanced leave, health and wellbeing programs and a truly flexible approach to work. Part-time working may be considered.
The role will be awarded on an initial 6 month contract with possibility for extension.
