About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission:
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is a regulator established on 1 July 2018 as an independent agency under section 181A of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.
The Commission assists the Commissioner in the performance of their functions, the core of which are to:
Uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of, people with disability.
Develop a nationally consistent approach to managing quality and safeguards for people with disability.
Promote the provision of advice, information, education and training to NDIS providers and people with disability.
Secure compliance with relevant legislation through effective compliance and enforcement arrangements.
Promote continuous improvement amongst NDIS providers.
Develop and oversee the broad policy design for a nationally consistent framework relating to the screening of workers involved in the provision of supports and services to people with disability.
Engage in, promote and coordinate the sharing of information to achieve the objects of the relevant legislation.
Provide NDIS market oversight.
Legal Services and Internal Integrity Division:
The Legal Services and Internal Integrity Division is comprised of the Legal Services Branch and the Internal Integrity Unit. Our day-to-day work has a direct and immediate impact on the lives of people with disabilities.
Legal Services and Regulatory Frameworks Team:
The Team is responsible for:
Supporting the NDIS Commission's legislative reform agenda.
Providing input and advice on proposed New Policy Proposals (NPPs) and draft legislation.
Updating, and providing advice on, delegations.
Managing the drafting and finalisation of NDIS Rules.
Skills, Knowledge and Personal Attributes:
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:
Experience in delivering consistent, timely and high-quality legal services.
Ability to apply sound legal skills to complex and sensitive issues.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assist with drafting, interpreting, and providing advice on the NDIS Act and associated policies.
Assist with the preparation of procedural or legal manuals and guidelines.
Liaise with internal clients and external stakeholders on legal matters.
Support the section's work to continuously improve the regulatory framework.
Assist with legal matters involving the interpretation or application of the NDIS Act.
Participate in activities and meetings to develop knowledge and expertise.
Minimum Mandatory Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in law, admitted as a legal practitioner in the High Court or a Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
Hold or be eligible to hold a restricted practicing certificate issued by the Law Society of a State or Territory.
