We have an opportunity for a lawyer to join our General Insurance section in Adelaide, working with a highly regarded team.
The Adelaide office is experiencing considerable growth and forms part of our market leading General Insurance section of over 200 team members nationally. The section provides advice to insurers, reinsurers and corporates across various lines of insurance. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding client service whilst maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
This role will focus primarily on defending compulsory third party (CTP ) claims on behalf of insurers, including those involving complex liability and quantum issues. You will be responsible for and have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervision. The role may also involve other aspects of insurance work, including personal injury/public liability, property damage (including recoveries) and indemnity.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:
reviewing documents and preparation of chronologies; drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties; conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements; preparing briefs for counsel; drafting Court documents and attending Court; drafting letters of instruction to experts; and legal research. Skills and Experience We would like to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
2–4 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law; ideally you will have experience in CTP, however we are also open to meeting candidates with experience in personal injury/public liability, or property insurance (including recoveries, defence and indemnity); we will also consider candidates with experience representing plaintiffs; a genuine interest in contributing to the growth and success of our insurance practice in Adelaide; clear, concise legal writing skills; and About Us Hall & Wilcox is a leading independent Australian law firm.
