The Opportunity We are looking for an ambitious andenthusiastic law graduate to join our team on a full-time basis. Asa law graduate specialising in defendant institutional tort claims,you will play a crucial role in providing legal support andrepresentation to our clients and will be responsible for managing avariety of cases involving institutional tort allegations, workingwith defendants and their legal teams to develop effective defencestrategies and ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Manage a caseload of defendantinstitutional tort claims from inception to resolution withadequate supervision. Conduct legal research, draftpleadings, and prepare various legal documents. Analyse complex legal issues,review case material, gather evidence, and assess liability and damages. Collaborate with senior lawyers todevelop and execute defence strategies. Attend negotiations, mediations,and court proceedings. Provide ongoing guidance to clientsthroughout the litigation process. Maintain accurate and up-to-datecase files, ensuring compliance with client service standards. Stay up to date of relevant legaldevelopments and changes in legislation pertaining toinstitutional tort claims. This permanent position is wellsuited to an individual that is looking to advance their career andgain hands-on experience in a supportive team environment.
Skills and Experience To be successful in this role you will have:
A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent. Strong knowledge of Australian tortlaw, civil procedure, and relevant legislation. Confidence to deal directly with clients. Demonstrated ability to workautonomously as well as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectivelywith experts in multiple fields. High degree of initiative,dedication and organisation ability with a strong client andcommercial focus. Ability to manage a busy workloadand work to tight deadlines. A commercial approach and abilityto articulate and negotiate effectively.
