Job Title: Laundry Manager
Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Summary: The Laundry Manager is responsible for managing the laundering, inventory, and quality of linens, tablecloths, napkins, and other fabric items used in event rentals.
This role ensures that all laundry operations meet high standards of cleanliness and presentation required for hospitality events, while coordinating staff, maintaining equipment, and controlling costs to meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities: Staff Management: Recruit, train, and oversee laundry team members, creating schedules that align with event timelines and demand.Supervise staff to ensure productivity and safety, providing training on proper handling of delicate or specialty linens.Conduct regular performance evaluations and support team members in meeting quality and efficiency targets.Operations Management: Manage laundry processes for high-volume, fast-paced event needs, ensuring items like table linens, napkins, and chair covers are cleaned, pressed, and ready on schedule.Ensure accurate tagging, sorting, and delivery of linens according to event orders, minimizing loss or mix-ups.Optimize workflow and daily operations to meet tight deadlines and adapt to last-minute changes or additional requests.Inventory and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain accurate inventory records of all linens, monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies as needed to fulfill upcoming orders.Coordinate with the inventory team to track linen usage, condition, and replacement needs.Oversee regular maintenance and servicing of laundry equipment, ensuring all machinery operates smoothly and scheduling repairs or replacements when necessary.Quality Control: Conduct inspections of linens for cleanliness, damage, and quality, implementing standards to meet the high expectations of hospitality clients.Monitor and address issues such as stains, tears, or wear, repairing or replacing items as needed.Work closely with the sales and event planning teams to understand client-specific quality requirements and handle special care instructions for unique or delicate fabrics.Health and Safety: Ensure team members adhere to health and safety standards, particularly regarding chemical handling, PPE usage, and general workplace safety.Implement and train staff on proper handling of detergents and stain-removal agents, minimizing environmental impact while ensuring safe usage.Conduct routine safety checks and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations for cleanliness, sanitation, and workplace safety.Cost and Waste Management: Monitor laundry-related expenses, including labor, supplies, and equipment maintenance, ensuring alignment with budget goals.Develop and implement waste-reduction strategies for water, detergent, and linen usage, promoting sustainability while maintaining quality standards.Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including linen loss rates, turnaround times, and resource utilization, to optimize cost-efficiency.Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in laundry, textile care, or hospitality management is a plus.Experience: 3+ years in laundry or textile care operations, preferably with experience in events or hospitality rentals.
Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role.Skills: Excellent organizational and leadership skills, strong attention to detail, and knowledge of commercial laundry equipment and textile care.Knowledge of: Fabric types and specific care requirements for event linens (e.g., specialty fabrics, stain treatment, and pressing).Working Conditions: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with periods of extended standing, lifting up to 20 kgs, and frequent bending.Flexibility to work event-driven hours, including evenings, weekends, and holiday periods when necessary.Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term
