This role is responsible for effective financial management, risk management, treasury management, internal controls, compliance and analysis. It ensures the provision of accurate, relevant and timely financial information and risk advice to both internal and external stakeholders. The position requires both professional expertise in Finance and Risk, strong leadership ability and strong alignment with Launch Housing's vision, mission and values.
This position is key in driving positive change, process efficiency and continuous improvement. The Finance and Risk functions aim to achieve genuine business alignment with Launch Housing's client services program. Success depends on taking full responsibility for financial governance and risk reporting. The Group Manager, Finance is responsible for embedding effective controls and to provide effective and efficient financial services, accounting integrity and adherence to Accounting Standards. Requiring a strong background in financial accounting and a commitment to delivering high quality service, success depends on taking full responsibility to deliver sound financial governance. Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills, as well as leadership to successfully build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. The role will further Launch Housing's Strategy and manage strategic risk in accordance with the Board's Risk Appetite, ensuring that Portfolio business plans address operational risks and are carefully calibrated to be able to deliver projects and BAU effectively.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at our Collingwood head office.
What you'll be doing: Develop and present financial statements, board reports, annual accounts and acquittals for government agencies, Launch Housing Board and Committees, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders as required. Supervise and have ultimate accountability for all accounting functions including month end Close / Balance Sheet review and reporting, revenues / funding contract management, Procurement and Accounts Payable, Payroll, Banking, and Treasury and Investments (with expert advisors). Manage and further develop Core Finance System and the many links / interdependencies with peripheral systems. Collaborate with and monitor other commercial activities and contract negotiations. Represent Launch Housing both internally and externally (as the Senior member of the finance team). This includes regular participation in / presentation to Launch Housing's Audit, Finance and Risk Committee (AFRC), and other committees / board as required. Ensure Launch Housing's Risk Management Framework identifies and mitigates risks relating to the finance function. Manage the annual external audit, liaising with our external audit provider to ensure timely and accurate delivery of annual accounts. Participate in and / or manage internal audit or business process improvement initiatives relating to the finance function and its systems or processes. Ensure the development and maintenance of a transparent, comprehensive and coherent suite of policies, procedures and work practices for the finance function. Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, Launch Housing policies, funding body, ATO, state agency and all applicable regulatory requirements. Ensure an effective system to manage financial and physical asset risk. Coordinate the annual insurance renewal process and act as primary contact to insurance agencies, both government and commercial. What we're looking for (key selection criteria): Demonstrable experience of development and leadership of a team. Bachelor degree in Accounting and post graduate qualification of Australian CPA or CA. A depth and breadth of experience in financial management including financial reporting, financial modelling and financial analysis with experience gained in a highly professional consulting or organisational environment. Thorough knowledge and insights of accounting standards and financial / business practices and a track record in development of effective policies, procedures and protocols. Proven experience in advising on financial matters and financial risk management. Previous experience or exposure to the not-for-sector sector highly regarded. Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness. $150,000 - $160,000 a year
