The Position: Due to the continued growth of the College, we are seeking a suitably qualified General Grounds & Maintenance – Gardener to join our Christ-centred community who will work at our Melton Campus. The position will commence in early 2025.
The Person: The General Grounds & Maintenance – Gardener position will work under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinators as part of the Maintenance Team who provide maintenance of the premises and grounds of Heathdale Christian College.
The Grounds & Maintenance – Gardener will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in the grounds and general maintenance area while abiding by the Occupational Health and Safety requirements of Heathdale Christian College.
Education and Experience: Require trade qualifications – gardening or landscapeStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenBasic computer skills and knowledgeAbility to work as part of a teamAbility to plan and fulfil daily allocated tasksCurrent WWCC 'E'Traffic Control certificateWorking at heights certificateChainsaw certificateProfessional Attributes: Maintain the presentation of the college's grounds and outdoor facilities including, garden and landscaped areas, playgrounds, and carparks.Provide ongoing support and repairs to any gardening requirements at the College.Problem-solve maintenance issues and provide solutions by safely rectifying or reporting faults to the relevant supervisor.Operate small and medium plant and machinery as required adhering to the safe operating procedures.Designing and installing new garden areas and irrigation systems on request.Ability to work individually and with other team members as directed.Providing garden-related supplies for educational activities.Sourcing and collecting required garden supplies.Under supervision, checking and reporting on building and grounds compliance matters and Essential Safety Measures.Provide special event support – e.g. music concerts, awards, sports activities.Keeping a clean and safe environment at all times by ensuring all OH&S regulations and standards are in place.Utilising working at heights equipment to safely access roof spaces.Regular safety checks of play spaces and equipment and reporting of hazards.Unlocking and securing areas of the campus as required.Some weekend and out-of-hours work will be required.Other duties as required.The ability to work across both campus locations as required.How to Apply: Although you may not meet all the skills and qualifications, we encourage you to apply for the position.
