The Opportunity As a Landfill/Transfer Station Attendant, you'll control & coordinate waste movement on and off sites so that all acceptable waste materials entering or leaving the site are recorded and accounted for, in line with EPA licensing requirements and Council procedure.
You'll be responsible for: Ensuring all waste loads entering the Landfill/Transfer Station site are properly screened, classified and recorded accurately on the weighbridge or entry point.
Providing a professional, courteous and responsive attitude to all customers, ensuring they are directed to the designated areas for waste disposal and/or recycling.
Inspecting and monitoring incoming loads of waste and recyclable material and ensure all recyclables are diverted from landfill.
Use of specific software for waste recording and transactions.
General office and administrative duties Housekeeping duties around Landfill/Transfer Stations grounds and workspaces.
This is a casual position with hours varying week-to-week.
You'll need to be able to work on your own, with minimal supervision.
There may be the opportunity to work across multiple sites to pick up additional hours.
Things You're Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria) Experience, or the ability to operate a waste facility / transfer station or similar infrastructure To be able to communicate effectively with members of the public Demonstrate excellent customer service skills Experience in use of computers and other office equipment.
To be physically able to perform the duties of this position Able to manage time and workload.
Qualifications and Experience Weighbridge operations and/or face to face customer service Experience in a general range of tasks / housekeeping associated with multiple products and services offered at a waste facility.
Experience in cash handling, EFTPOS and bank reconciliation If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and pre-employment medical check.
