Full time, temporary role available up to 30 June 2025.All NSW locations to be considered (subject to an approved NSW Reconstruction Office location) with flexible work and hybrid options available.Clerk Grade 7/8 ($106,025- $117,363) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.Are you passionate about making communities safer and more resilient? About The RoleIn this role, you will contribute to the development of the Regional Risk Based Planning Approach (RRBPA) for the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley (HNV). This vital initiative aims to reduce flood risks associated with future developments and will be an integral part of the HNV Disaster Adaptation Plan.
You Will Engage In a Range Of Responsibilities IncludingAssisting to develop the RRBPA which will craft a comprehensive flood risk reduction strategy that aligns with the Authority's objectives and supports disaster adaptation.Conducting research and disseminating information to support the RRBPA development.Providing expert advice and recommendations on various documents and proposals related to flooding and land use planning.Providing recommendations on development and planning proposals, ensuring they align with disaster mitigation and management goals.This role offers a unique opportunity to influence land use planning and disaster management strategies, ensuring our communities are better prepared for and resilient to natural disasters.About YouWe are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong background in land use planning and disaster risk management. The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in land use planning, preferably with a focus on disaster risk adaptation, mitigation, and recovery.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.A meticulous approach to reviewing documents and proposals to ensure compliance with disaster management objectives.Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and contribute to a team-oriented environment.RequiredTo be considered for this role applicants need to address the required key knowledge and experience as well as the essential criteria:
Demonstrated understanding of New South Wales government processes and policy making.Experience in interpreting and implementing statutory planning legislation and policy.Experience or demonstrated capability to develop ability in natural hazard adaptation.Well-developed analytical and research skills.Tertiary qualification in public policy, planning, law, ecology, environmental science or other relevant discipline or equivalent expertise.About The AgencyThe NSW Reconstruction Authority (the Authority) is a statutory corporation within Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The Authority will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster.
To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
