Lake Macquarie City Council is one of the largest employers of training positions in the Hunter region. ABOUT THE JOB
This Traineeship is a 1-year program, where we will support you to complete a Diploma in Information Technology (Business Analysis). As the Trainee IT Business Analyst, you will gain technical knowledge, develop valuable skills and gain hands-on experience in IT Business Analysis. Training will be provided both on-the-job and online with TAFE.
In this role, we will support you to:
Gain experience in implementing practical solutions that deliver the desired outcome for the business Learn the tools to document business requirements, processes, and workflows Design future state processes and/or data models, applying techniques such as process mapping, data flow diagrams and using other relevant tools such as Visio Organise and document business requirements to a sufficient level of detail to enable sign off from project sponsors and stakeholders Communicate with business stakeholders providing regular and accurate updates alongside the Senior IT Business Analyst
The position is located at Lake Macquarie City Council Administration Building and may involve travel to multiple areas within Lake Macquarie. You will be rostered to work Monday to Friday.
Candidates who have completed a Diploma qualification or higher in a related field may not be eligible to apply. We are looking for a Trainee who enjoys working collaboratively in an office-based environment and will embrace opportunities to work on a variety of simultaneous projects. Effective communication skills are essential in this role as you will play a key part in assisting stakeholders by delivering data-driven solutions to inform strategic and operational business decisions.
We are also looking for candidates who have:
Year 12 High School Certificate or equivalent, with satisfactory English and Mathematics results. Interest in business analysis and stakeholder engagement to critically analyse and investigate an issue or complex technical problem to inform an appropriate solution Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines Understanding of industry standard methodologies (such as BABOK/ Agile Business Analysis) Commitment to completing all training course requirements. Strong communication skills and a passion for creating IT solutions Experience in a customer-facing role Highly desirable is work experience in the Information Technology industry or successful completion of a Certificate IV in Information Technology or an equivalent qualification HOW TO APPLY
