The Governance Officer is a member of the Integrity and Risk team, which provides insight, builds capability, and designs frameworks, policies, tools, and techniques to support risk-based and responsible decision-making. This role is responsible for delivering a variety of governance and secretariat duties, project management, and providing high-quality advice to all levels within Council.
Using your strong influencing, communication, and relationship-building skills, you have the opportunity to liaise with senior leaders both internally and externally. Along with the full list of responsibilities within the Position Statement, you will oversee and manage:
Council's Delegations of Authority program, including reviewing delegations of authority following the Local Government election and collaborating closely with key internal and external stakeholders to effectively fulfill the role. The secretariat duties for the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC) and support its governance needs, including preparing reports on its activities for the elected Council. You are an efficient and proactive worker, with the ability to work in a team and autonomously, solving complex problems and continuously looking for improvements to ensure high-quality governance processes. As the Governance Officer, you have excellent organisation skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, particularly coordinating committee meetings and actions.
With demonstrated qualifications and/or experience in governance or another relevant field, you are comfortable in dealing with complex issues and programs, and implementing improvements to processes and systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance with legislation.

Degree level qualifications in business, law, or relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in a governance position. Demonstrated record of success in working with senior leaders and external stakeholders and a proven ability to exercise sound judgement, particularly in matters of strict confidentiality. Highly developed organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice on systems, processes, and protocols to Council staff. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, particularly in coordinating committee meetings and actions. LET'S REVEAL THE PERKS
This position provides:
