About the opportunity
The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway.
These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne's east.

Laing O'Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP.
Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria's toughest traffic noise standards.

About the role
We are currently seeking a Surveillance Officer to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance.
This is your opportunity to verify processes used are in accordance with the ITP and Project specifications.

Key responsibilities
Carry out surveillance and nominated authority duties in accordance with the Quality Management Sub-Plan and the EBTA Surveillance Strategy physically on site.
General surveillance of the works in accordance with the EBTA Surveillance Plan to ensure that the Contractor is complying with the Contract including approved Management Plans.
Identify, communicate and escalate (where required) quality conformance issues.
Identify gaps and issues needing intervention, escalation, and quality management.
Verification that processes used are in accordance with the ITP and approved Project specifications.
Hold and Witness Point release responsibilities in accordance with the nominated authorities in the Hold and Witness Point Register.
Conduct walkthroughs and promote discussion primarily related to product workmanship.
Engage with the subcontract and supply teams in all matters regarding quality conformance and quality culture.
Support the Quality Manager and Quality Engineers in monitoring, surveillance, training and inspection.
Escalate areas of quality workmanship or compliance concern to the Delivery team and functional manager as required.
Verify processes are being delivered in accordance with approved documentation (primarily the Inspection and Test Plan).
Audit and surveillance activities to be undertaken with adherence to AS/NZS ISO 19011:2019 Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems.
Lead and undertake targeted audits and surveillance for identified suppliers, fabricators and/or subcontractors.
About you
Experience working on MRPV projects or VicRoads Projects with an understanding of standards and specifications .
Ideally you will hold a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline or similar.
Significant technical experience within a project delivery environment.
Solid experience in Quality roles.
Technical knowledge to interpret drawings, specifications, and quality records.
Previous experience with Project Document Management Systems.
Experience as a Lead Auditor is desirable but not mandatory.
