About the role We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join the Group Data & Analytics team. The purpose of the role is to work closely with the Group Data & Analytics team to ensure the right 'data design' from the onset for initiatives across our business. The role will also incorporate additional data sources and design new data structures in the global data ecosystem. As our maturity in the data space evolves, this role will lead the charge in designing and developing data products for us to monetize.
Key responsibilities Group Data Architecture Strategy and roadmap development, contributing to the implementation of a group-wide strategy for data architecture through effective planning, design, and implementation. Analysis of large, complex business processes and systems architectures across the data lifecycle. Data modelling and analysis including delivery of data model artefacts such as Corporate Information Model, Canonical Data Model, Conceptual Data Model, Logical Data Model, Physical Data Models, Data mappings, and Data flows. Create a holistic view of the as-is and to-be data landscape for various Data initiatives. Review and support implementation of data policies and standards, working with data governance stakeholders. Consult and work with solution delivery teams to ensure solutions meet data model requirements. Identify risks and issues in a timely manner and escalate for resolution as needed through the project governance structure. Assist project managers and D&A Service Delivery lead in estimating, planning, and delivering the data architecture requirements. Ensure all deliverables are aligned to relevant governance requirements, including Design Authorities, through Platform & Solution Architects. Evolve the Corporate Information Model for relevant business functions, ensuring alignment across the group. Meet deliverables by providing input and metrics to ensure timely and market-ready products and services. Drive the adoption of data architecture best practices, tools, and standards and promote continuous improvement efforts. Nurture working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues within the D&A function and wider technology. Actively contribute to the Data architecture Community of Practice. Develop Proofs of Concept to demonstrate potential end states to the business, involving the creation of ETL pipelines and reports in Power BI. About you Minimum of 5 years' experience working in an industrial context, with a deep understanding of data and BI, standards and tools used across architecture, design, and engineering. Minimum of 3 years' experience in data modeling and experience modeling in 3-tier architecture. Experience in creating conceptual, logical, and physical models ensuring highest design and delivery standards. Experience in using ER Studio or similar tools. Ability to interact with engineers and convey the technicalities around physicalizing the models. Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management. Working knowledge of data management including but not limited to master and reference data, metadata management, and data quality. A strong knowledge of data flows, data analysis, and data profiling. Knowledge of Big Data solutions including Hadoop, Spark, and open-source technologies. Experience of working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured information. Experience in Construction & Engineering businesses is ideal. Strong logical understanding of relational data concepts. Experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies. Experience of working through all phases in the Project lifecycle. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with diligent attention to detail and quality of output. Strong influencing skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business. Proven ability to understand and relay complex data-related issues in a simple and easy to understand manner. Experience and understanding of secure development frameworks, engineering operating models, and cloud engineering ideally on Azure. Experience with Databricks and Power BI.
