About you We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced laboratory technician to join our expanding team. Our newly established soil testing laboratory is engaged in projects across Australia and the APAC region. The successful candidate will have the chance to work on a diverse range of projects, including but not limited to advancements in renewable energy and research projects.
Candidates require strong organization skills, initiative and drive, reliable and systematic work approaches, and a commitment to work as part of a team. The position is full-time and will work under the Laboratory Manager to perform testing on soil samples, operate specialised laboratory testing equipment, collate results, and contribute to project reporting. Experience in advanced soil testing for geotechnical purposes is preferred for this role.
Key tasks include: Preparing soil samples and test specimens.Performing advanced laboratory tests (according to specific procedures and standards).Processing and plotting of results.Other activities related to laboratory testing (e.g. setting up equipment, performing calibrations, troubleshooting and identifying mechanical and software issues.General housekeeping and upkeep of work areas and equipment.Qualifications & experience Qualifications with relevant field (Engineering, Science or Geology) Demonstrated experience and extensive knowledge in soil testing industry, particularly advanced soil testing for geotechnical purposes (including but not limited to Triaxial, Resonant Column, Direct Simple Shear, Consolidation, Permeability etc.).Sound knowledge of laboratory practices and operationsGood manual skills with high attention to detail. General computer literacy, including Microsoft Office skills.Highly motivated with ability to work with limited supervision.
