ABOUT THE ROLEASC is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our East Brisbane laboratory on a full time basis, to support the existing team. The role represents a great career opportunity for individuals with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn about grain and oilseed analysis.
The core duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
analysis of cereals, oilseeds and pulses for:protein, moisture and oil/fat contentimpurities (weed seeds, foreign material, dockage)defective grainsinsects and insect damagegermination capacity/energywet gluten content and gluten indexfree fatty acid content of extracted oilsoperation and maintenance of bench-top instrumentation including NIR, NMR and Falling Number systemslaboratory housekeeping, including cleaning and re-stocking consumables THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATEThe successful candidate(s) must:
have excellent communication skills with a pleasant, friendly mannerbe a team player and willing to support colleagues to meet deadlineshold a qualification in Science in a relevant discipline (e.g. Agricultural Science, Biology)possess excellent organisational skills and be able to multitaskbe able to work productively in a fast-paced environmentThe following proven abilities will be highly regarded:
prioritise workload based on client/management requirementsability to adapt to changes in priorityprior experience working in a commercial laboratoryprior experience in grain and oilseed analysisprior knowledge of GTA, USDA or GAFTA grading and test proceduresexperience with NATA/ISO accreditationAttention to detail and accuracy are essential.
EMPLOYMENT BASIS Full time. Business normal hours of operation: 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
