Job Description SGS is seeking Laboratory Technicians for casual and full-time positions to join our Oil and Gas team at the Perth Airport laboratory. In this role, you will perform on-site analytical testing, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our contracted laboratory. You will conduct a range of analytical tests with minimal supervision, contributing to the quality and reliability of our services.
In this full-time position, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Under guidance from Laboratory Supervisor however named, perform sampling and testing of samples. Operate, calibrate, and conduct routine maintenance of analytical instruments with a high degree of precision. Skills with the following instruments are considered desirable; Karl Fisher, Flash Point, FTIR, Viscometer, Gas Chromatography, Induction Coupled Plasma, Auto titrators. Maintain laboratory records in a systematic and logical manner. Specifically, maintain calibration records, analytical results, test reports, and maintenance records in LIMS system. Generate custom trend data and reports using a combination of LIMS and MS Office programs. Assist with the development of analytical procedures. As part of procedure development, the chemist must apply systematic knowledge integration from different sources. Assist with laboratory stock control and maintain adequate notification based on anticipated usage. Actively participate in the OGC safety programmes. Under assistance from OGC staff, undertake methodical job hazard analysis activities with regard to sample collection and analytical chemistry. Minimise the need for oversight and duplication of work. Minimise re-work. Perform general laboratory duties and assist with the maintenance and development of the laboratory operation. Qualifications Relevant Technical School qualifications or tertiary studies. Demonstrated experience in handling Petrochemical, Gas or Chemical Products. Proficient computer software literacy.
