About the Role A role is becoming available for a Laboratory Technician to provide services within our onsite laboratory at our farm. The successful candidate will be working with the Nursery Manager and General Manager of the farm to assist in providing plant material for nursery propagation. The person will need to have proficiency in all aspects of tissue culture operations and record keeping.
This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis and reports directly to the General Manager – Farms.
Key Responsibilities All aspects of plant tissue culture (micropropagation) including but not limited to preparation of plant material for initiation into culture, subculturing of plants and plant tissues, rooting and de-flasking. Prepare stock solutions and media Operate laboratory equipment and monitor plant growth Identify and address issues with plant health such as nutritional issues and contamination Participate in training in all aspects of tissue culture operations Maintain adequate stock levels of consumables Record keeping and inventory tracking Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in scientific discipline, including Biotechnology, Genetics or other Life Sciences preferred but not essential. Relevant experience equivalent to the qualification as listed above. Interests in horticulture and eagerness to continually grow in the industry. An understanding of cultivation practices in a greenhouse or nursery environment. Experience in tissue culture techniques, such as micropropagation Good hand/eye coordination and dexterity Good understanding of, and ability to implement aseptic techniques in all aspects of initiating and subculturing Process driven, able to follow standard procedures and operating instructions Ability to achieve a consistent quality standard Ability to use relevant inventory management software (MS Power Apps) Free onsite parking Free uniform upon commencement of the role If you have what it takes to excel in this role, do not wait.
