About This Opportunity The Laboratory Technician undertakes a range of technical, operational and administrative tasks which directly support the effective operation of the JKMRC Flotation Chemistry laboratory.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assist in conducting experiments and research programs both in the laboratory and on mine sites, focusing on flotation testing, and preparing and sizing samples for analytical analysis.
Maintain documents and records of experiments, and procure and organize maintenance of research equipment and consumables in accordance with relevant University policy and procedures.
Develop, maintain, and follow SOPs and laboratory procedures, ensuring high standards of housekeeping and managing sample receipt, storage, waste disposal, and chemical inventory.
Train researchers and students in laboratory equipment use, liaise with internal staff, and contribute to laboratory safety meetings.
About You Completion of a Diploma in Laboratory Technology; or Completion of a Certificate IV with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Experience of working in a metallurgical research laboratory and/or mine site.
Documented experience in assisting in the conduct of mineral processing specific research programs.
Technical capabilities in the execution of on-site mineral processing plant sampling surveys (comminution and flotation).
Experience using standard metallurgical laboratory equipment, including jaw crushers, rotary splitters, sizing equipment, batch flotation cells, laboratory ball mills.
Documented experience in the procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment and consumables, and developing SOPs and laboratory manuals.
Attention to detail, ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
Ability to work independently with sound judgment and as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
