You will: Laboratory Preparation & Equipment ManagementPrepare materials, stock solutions, and apparatus for practical science work, ensuring efficient use and allocation of resources.
Assist in setting up and testing demonstration experiments under the direction of teaching staff. Safety & ComplianceMaintain an accurate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) file, ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials, and conduct safety audits in accordance with OH&S guidelines. Inventory & Stock ControlOrganise stock control procedures, including ordering supplies, managing inventories, and conducting a stocktake prior to budget preparation.
Assist with budget management and expenditure tracking for the science department. Maintenance & CleanlinessOversee the cleanliness and maintenance of laboratories, prep rooms, and equipment, including the sterilization of apparatus and cleaning of lab coats.
Report any faults in utilities to the Property Manager. Collaboration & SupportLiaise with science staff on equipment use and safety matters, collaborate with external organizations for equipment procurement, and assist in special events like Science Week and Open Day to enhance student engagement.
