About you

To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:

A Diploma of Laboratory Technology, Associate Degree or equivalent

Previous laboratory experience, preferably in diagnostic testing, is desirable

A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures

Must be a cohesive and contributing member of the team and display positive attitudes towards achieving outcomes

Strong time management, interpersonal and organisational skills

Attention to detail

Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety and quality assurance processes and procedures

Previous Pathology Laboratory experience is desirable, but not essential

This position is based in the Andrology department of QML Pathology at 11 Riverview Place, Murarrie, 4172. We are looking to appoint a dedicated and quality driven Laboratory Technician to join our team. The department offers a comprehensive Andrology service. This full-time position of 76 hours per fortnight may be required to work various shifts between the hours of 6am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, with potential for weekend work. The successful applicant will enjoy clearly defined progression opportunities and join a friendly, professional team committed to patient care and excellence in diagnostic pathology. The main duties are to maintain the day to day running of the Andrology section. This will include:

Analysis of seminal fluid for fertility patients and vasectomy patients in QLD

Sperm antibody testing (IBT) for the national business

Training of branch staff in motility testing and post vasectomy testing

Attend branch supervisory visits as required

Participation in the External Quality Assurance Scheme for Reproductive Medicine (EQASRM) QAP

Review of QAP submissions for central and branch laboratories

Experience in a similar role in medical laboratory science would be of advantage. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), good verbal and written communication, organized, ability to meet deadlines, and previous experience in microscope work is preferred. Performance goals include: ability to complete tasks on time, maintain a clean and presentable workspace, deal with clients, suppliers and other employees professionally.
