The Vaccine Trials Group (VTG), established in 2000, is a high performing research group dedicated to advancing public health through the coordinated development, assessment, and promotion of vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases and allergies. The team of doctors, nurses, researchers, and laboratory scientists play a crucial role in evaluating the safety and effectiveness of vaccines for both children and adults across Australia. The VTG now has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Research Assistant to join the team's high-performing clinical laboratory. Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory Coordinator, this role will support the efficient delivery of laboratory outcomes on a broad range of clinical trials and research projects. In this role, your duties will include but not be limited to: Sample processing and shipping of research samples in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), relevant study protocols and IATA regulatory guidelines. Maintaining high-quality laboratory databases, records, inventories, and documentation. Monitoring and maintenance of laboratory resources including stock, equipment, and laboratory facilities. Contributing to the continuous development and delivery of robust quality assurance protocols and Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP).

Conveniently based in our offices in Nedlands, this role will be offered on a full-time basis. About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor's degree in a health science related field, with honours or equivalent workplace experience, demonstrated laboratory experience in sample processing techniques, along with the following skills and experiences: Excellent organization skills, flexibility, and attention to detail. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Competency in computer literacy; including Microsoft suite programs, database, and spreadsheet management. Previous work experience in infectious diseases or health research and laboratory experience in cellular/tissue culture techniques (e.g., PBMC isolations) are desirable. Knowledge of research standards such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP), IATA shipping regulations, OGTR regulations, and laboratory safety is also considered highly desirable.
