About the Opportunity Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has a full-time opportunity for a Frozen Section and Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) Scientist to join their dedicated team within the Pindara Laboratory on the Gold Coast.
This varied role will primarily entail attending procedures in operating theatres and radiology clinics. The nature of these tasks requires a flexible candidate with full daytime availability along with their own transport.
Duties and Responsibilities: Histopathology - frozen sections – cutting tissue and preparing slides to allow the histopathologist to make an intra-operative diagnosis. Cytology - FNA's - making smears, undertaking rapid staining, assessing and providing feedback on cellularity to the radiologist to assist with adequate sampling. Participation in multi-disciplinary lab work including pre-analytical, biochemistry and microbiology. This role entails working from 8am-4pm Monday to Friday along with participation in a weekend roster as required.
About You To be successful in this role, you'll have a degree in Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or other relevant qualification. Applicants with experience in either frozen sections, FNA's or multi-disciplinary laboratory skills will be highly regarded.
The ideal applicant will have a flexible approach to work, well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as being an effective team member. The successful applicant must be capable of attending training in frozen sections and FNA's at the Bowen Hills laboratory as well as on the Gold Coast.
Applicants should possess good communication skills together with an enthusiastic and flexible attitude to the working environment.
