The purpose of this position is to co-ordinate the operations of the laboratory to fulfil client turnaround and quality requirements. This will require the optimal use of available staff to achieve an efficient flow of work through the laboratory departments for accurate and reliable analysis of samples and data whilst maintaining a safe work environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO Technical Optimise laboratory operations and staff to achieve safe, efficient and reliable production outcomes Manage job priority and laboratory resources to achieve client turnaround expectations in liaison with management and senior laboratory staffPerform all approved analytical methods in the laboratoryWork with the QAQC team to maintain a quality system for ISO17025 accreditationEnsure all operating procedures are followed and maintained.Ensure all analysis and reports are completed on time and are accurate, monitoring turnaround and productivity.To assist in/or conduct investigations of discrepancies or non-conformances and inform laboratory management of required corrective actions.Oversee the activities of shipping, receiving, registration, sample retention and sample disposal.Other Maintain a safe work environmentEmployee management Assist with recruitmentCo-ordinate training and training recordsOversee rostering and management of leaveSupervision of employees in the laboratoryEvaluate employee performance, providing regular feedbackCo-ordinate regular stock take of consumable resources in conjunction with laboratory administrationComply with and enforce all Intertek policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety, HR, IT, quality and production. Co-ordinate maintenance and record keepingCommunicate with the Laboratory Manager regarding the routine needs of the laboratory.Maintain communication with clients and Laboratory manager regarding status of samplesOther appropriate duties as requested by the laboratory manager.
