Job Description Sample homogenization, extraction and extract cleanup.
Perform routine laboratory tasks in support of all analytical chemists including operation of rotovaps, soxhlets, manifolds and other laboratory equipment; solvent rinsing glassware, preparing reagents and packing chromatographic columns.
Record accurate and complete routine data on work-up sheets to provide a complete legal history of the samples.
Ensure that all instructions received are clear and accurate before commencing work by developing active listening and active learning skills.
Become proficient within one or more of the lab groups – Sample Prep, Extraction, Cleanup, LC and Technical Group.
Maintain a clean lab environment to preserve the integrity of samples.
Train and mentor peers in methods and standard operating procedures.
Follow SOPs and complete required training parameters.
Apply method approved additional extract cleanup steps as required.
Follow correct methods and procedures to provide quality output and ensure SGS AXYS maintains its related accreditations and in compliance with QA protocols and policies.
Be well organized and anticipate how to handle work flow, which is often sporadic and may require flexibility when equipment is not immediately available or production volumes are not consistent.
Balance speed with accurate, high-quality work to meet production schedules.
Control sample integrity to ensure accuracy of analyzed routine samples, expedite information transfer to other staff/departments, and maintain lab and equipment in a clean and organized manner.
Adhere to the expectations outlined in SGS AXYS's Code of Ethics.
Be accountable for the Health, Safety and Environment of personnel and enforce all regulations as per the Company Health and Safety Manual, and immediately report any health, safety or environmental incidents, accidents or concerns to the Manager/Supervisor and H&S department for action.
Demonstrate good and safe work habits and enforce a clean working environment.
Knowledge of good laboratory practices, e.g., Health & Safety, working with acids and other harmful reagents.
Qualifications Education: Technical Diploma or BSc.
in Chemistry or related science.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment to achieve common goals and objectives.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and energetic.
Willingness to participate in flexible work schedules (including evenings and weekends).
Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
Proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills in English including grammar and composition.
Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
Work well under pressure.
Ensure full compliance with the company's Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
Additional Information Salary: $20 - $22 per hour
