About the Role: We are excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a new position in alignment with our ongoing operations – a Laboratory Chemist.
Reporting into our Senior Laboratory team, the primary focus of this position is to ensure precision and accuracy of our analytical laboratory services, as provided to both our Greenbushes Lithium Operation and an external refinery.
The laboratory supports all operations on a 24/7 basis.
As such, we are looking for a well-rounded chemist, with scope including - XRF, ICPOES, AAS, IC / Waters Chemistry, TOC, LIMS, and Automated Sizing Analysis.
The successful incumbent will be supporting an existing busy geochemical laboratory, as well as helping select new technology to install and commission, whilst providing ongoing technical support into the future.
This a residential role, based at our Greenbushes Lithium Operation, on a 7:7 (12hr dayshift, even-time) roster.
A room within our company share housing scheme is on offer, but you must be prepared to live within our beautiful Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes during your time on site.
Responsibilities include: Demonstrate safety awareness in Laboratory operations by example, whilst identifying and implementing safety improvements; Assist in maintaining laboratory quality systems; Conduct safety and quality audits; Provide technical support for new and existing laboratory procedures; Carry out non-routine analysis as required; Provide technical support to laboratory staff; Responsible for performance of all laboratory instrumentation; Provide technical support for maintenance as required; Identify technical issues in the laboratory and implement corrective actions; and Utilise Business Improvement tools for Continuous Improvement of Laboratory analytical tasks. About the Candidate: The following qualification/s and competencies are an inherent requirement of this position: Tertiary qualification / degree in Chemistry; Five (5) years technical experience, preferably in mineral analysis laboratories; Competency to Provide First Aid; and Current 'C' class Drivers Licence. The incumbent should have the following skills and/or experience: Competent in laboratory instrumentation techniques, operation and troubleshooting; Understanding of laboratory safety regulations and standards; Understanding of laboratory quality systems and their management; Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; and High level of computer literacy.
