Position: Laboratory Assistant (Molecular Pathology)
Location: Bowen Hills, QL
Employment Type: Full-time - Shifts are 8 hours duration with a 30 minute lunch break and currently range across the time frame 6am to 6pm.
Weekday shift start times within those working hours vary from 6 am through 10 am as rostered.
Participation in occasional weekend shifts and public holiday rosters as required is also an expectation of the role.
What we are looking forThe successful candidate will ideally have the following:
The ability to deliver a pathology service involving administrative laboratory pre-analytical duties.Previous experience in a laboratory will be advantageous, but full training is provided in the role.
Staff previously working in the hospitality industry, especially in fast-paced barista work, have been very successful in our laboratory assistant team.Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the team.Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work methodically and efficiently whilst adhering to occupational health and safety policies.The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.The ability to be an effective team member and have a positive influence on other staff.A sound knowledge of computers and software, in particular Excel.Suitable applicants should be enthusiastic, possess good communication and organisational skills, and have the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a busy and motivated team.
A high level of commitment to laboratory turnaround times, customer service, accuracy of processing, and laboratory goals is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerforming specimen log-in, specimen retrieval, processing, and filing.Conducting DNA/RNA extraction (manual and automated).Handling phone enquiries and reagent preparation.Operating specimen handling instruments.Performing other general laboratory duties as assigned by the Lab Assistant Supervisor or Laboratory Management.About Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP)Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is a leading provider of diagnostic pathology services in Australia, renowned for our commitment to excellence in patient care and quality testing.
