THE ROLE - LABORATORY ASSISTANT MANAGER/SENIOR CHEMIST Hallett Laboratory is a NATA accredited laboratory facility which undertakes testing in the Cement, Lime, Aggregates & Soils and Concrete fields.
Hallett Laboratory personnel have extensive experience in their respective fields and our laboratory technicians are all highly qualified and experienced.
Hallett Laboratory is committed to maintaining the highest standards in professional and ethical conduct and is always seeking to extend the scope of its NATA accreditation to better service the needs of the industry and of our customer base.
The primary focus of the Laboratory Assistant Manager is to assist the Laboratory Manager in the day to day running of the laboratory while maintaining basic daily tasks such as calibrations and training of new staff members.
The Assistant Manager will also take on the role of managing infrequent testing including scheduling.
To be successful you must be capable of day-to-day leadership, maintaining a safe working environment and maintaining the laboratories position as an industry leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Ensuring a safe and orderly laboratorySupervising quality control activities in the laboratoryEnsuring conformance with NATA standardsOversee concrete, raw materials and cement testing including overseeing the LIMS systemComplete infrequent tests on a regular basis to develop a database, particular focus will be placed on Chloride Penetration, Elastic Modulus, MDD and Angularity testsTraining of new staff membersRepresenting the laboratory when the Laboratory Manager is unavailablePerform concrete allocating when requiredOther duties assigned by the Laboratory ManagerProvide leadership to ensure all operations are conducted safely in accordance with legislation and Hallett Group standards of OH&S.QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES Diploma in Laboratory skills, preferably a Science/Engineering degreeDemonstrated leadership capability and strong communication skills;Minimum 5 years practical experience in a laboratory environmentExperience in Continuous Improvement strategiesTO APPLY To be considered for this position click "APPLY" and submit a copy of your application.
