Working at Genomics Diagnostics, you will be at the forefront of genetic testing, and your role as Laboratory Assistant will be crucial to the testing journey.
From specimen processing, to DNA extraction, to sample preparation, you will have the exposure to and be rotating through a number of specimen reception areas, enabling you to start your professional career in a patient-focused diagnostic genomics laboratory and develop a strong skillset for other technical or scientist roles.
About Us Genomic Diagnostics is the national genomics laboratory for Healius. We provide comprehensive genomic testing spanning reproductive health, inherited disease, pharmacogenomics, oncology, and relationship testing, to an extensive network of public and private hospitals and community referrers across Australia. Our primary focus is to provide high-quality and timely genomic information to assist in diagnosis and clinical decision-making.

What You Will Be Doing Based at the Genomic Diagnostics Laboratory in Heidelberg and reporting to the Specimen Reception Team Leader, you will be working closely with a team of 9, as well as the wider Genomics Diagnostics team of 50. Your duties as Laboratory Assistant will include sorting, processing, and accessioning pathology specimens and data entry. Other tasks may include operating laboratory equipment for DNA extraction and non-invasive prenatal screening test setup, equipment maintenance and pipette calibration.
