We now have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced Laboratory and Technical Support Advisor (Veterinary Anatomy) to join our team.
Work with leading academics from across the globe in a values-based organisation Full time, fixed term position until late December 2025 Based at Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus in tropical North Queensland $85,816.60- $92,948.21 per year plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits ABOUT THE ROLE As a Laboratory and Technical Support Advisor (Veterinary Anatomy), you will deliver technical support for veterinary anatomy classes, workshops, and intensives, adhering to established procedures and timelines. You will assist in the preparation and maintenance of cadavers, tissues, and animal specimens, ensuring all activities comply with safety and hygiene regulations. A significant aspect of the role involves supporting the Veterinary Bequest Program, including the collection of live animals, donated animal bodies, and tissues, while ensuring ethical compliance and appropriate disposal methods.
Maintaining the safety and functionality of anatomy facilities is central to this role. You will provide training and inductions for students and staff, participate in safety audits, and contribute to the university's commitment to excellence by mitigating risks associated with teaching and research. Additionally, you will oversee compliance with Work, Health, and Safety legislation to create a safe and productive environment for learning.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To excel in this role, you will bring expertise in veterinary anatomy laboratory techniques, including specimen preparation and tissue preservation. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills will enable you to manage competing priorities effectively, while your excellent communication abilities will help you collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with legislative requirements and a proactive approach to maintaining a compliant and engaging teaching environment are essential.
Special Conditions The position requires a First Aid Certificate, a Queensland C-class Driver's License, a Working with Children Blue Card, and Q Fever vaccination or demonstrated immunity. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on occasion is necessary to meet the demands of teaching and research activities.
