About the Business The Geo Technical Management Group is a 100% Australian-owned and operated construction material testing and drilling company. Established in 1986 in Hervey Bay, we pride ourselves on our local knowledge and experience in areas from Brisbane, South-East Queensland to Central Queensland. We provide quality testing services that underpin the design, construction, and safety of some of Australia's most iconic and important infrastructure projects. Due to unprecedented success, our business is continually growing and we are looking to engage entry-level Technicians to grow with us and receive mentorship from our geotechnical experts. 
Our Geotechnical Services Group Brisbane Laboratory (Located in Wacol) is currently seeking a Casual Entry Level Technician/s with a keen interest in learning, onsite training provided, and the opportunity to complete a company-funded Certificate 3 in Laboratory Skills and beyond (up to Advanced Diploma) as time progresses.
About the Role As an Entry-Level Technician, you will be supervised by senior staff and instructed by the Laboratory Manager. The position will require you to assist in soil, aggregate, and concrete preparation practices, basic laboratory testing, and assisting our field technicians on local construction projects and quarry sampling. Laboratory preparation and site sampling across our full scope of accreditation for materials testing in accordance with AS1289, Qld Main Roads, AS1012 & AS1141.
From preparing samples in the laboratory to testing on major infrastructure projects to managing a laboratory, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity, diligence, and high performance, as we understand the critical role that materials testing plays in ensuring successful construction outcomes. Our clients trust us to provide them with the peace of mind they need to manage construction risk effectively.
Duties required of the role: Assist in soil preparation practices, basic laboratory testing, field sampling in a timely mannerHelp prepare samples for processing and laboratory testingWork and communicate in a team environmentEnsure an excellent quality of standard is always maintainedEnthusiasm and motivation with the ability to work unsupervised whilst upholding safety, quality, and company policy standardExceptional attention to detailCommunication with both the internal and external stakeholdersReport any non-conforming works in line with company policy and proceduresContinually strive to achieve improvement within the role and the companyTo be successful in this role, you will ideally possess: Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, word, excel)Ability to lift heavy loads for extended hours (repeatably)Mathematical aptitudeStrong communication and problem solving skillsReliability and punctualityAbility to follow work practices and testing proceduresWillingness to learn and undertake formal training (company provided)Current driver's licenseAbility to pass drug and alcohol screeningConstruction Blue card/white cardWhy work for Geotechnical Services?
