About the Opportunity The primary function of this role is to work collaboratively with other staff to create a safe and respectful home environment for young people, assisting them in taking responsibility and making healthy life choices.
Facilitate activities and support young people in achieving their goals, developed through their strengths-based daily personalised program and bail conditions while in residential services.
Shifts will vary, including weekday shifts, weekday evening/overnight shifts, and weekend day/overnight shifts.
Responsibilities include reporting incidents as required by HOPE and the funding body within contractual timeframes.
Requirements of the Role: Work within the Bail Practice Manual and HOPE policy to ensure a safe environment for young people and co-workers.Support up to 4 young people in a residential service during shifts, helping them achieve their goals and bail conditions through pro-social activities.Facilitate the strengths-based personalised program for each young person, developed by the Coordinator.Engage in regular conversations with each young person and Coordinator regarding their progress and satisfaction with their activity plan.Provide opportunities for healthy lifestyle and recreational activities.Serve as a role model, offering non-judgmental and compassionate support.Transport young people to and from programs and appointments as required.Support supervised family visits for young people (where approved and appropriate).About You: Minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, AOD, or a similar qualification, or relevant experience (minimum 1 year in a similar role).Experience delivering services (programs) to young people (group or one-on-one).Experience and/or willingness to work with young people exhibiting challenging behaviours.Strong communication skills with young people and understanding of Aboriginal culture.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Client Management Systems for reporting and record-keeping.Strong problem-solving skills for managing difficult situations.Ability to prepare meals and maintain a clean and healthy environment.Willingness to engage in outdoor recreational activities.Understanding of and adherence to personal and professional boundaries.Current knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.Broad knowledge of drug and alcohol, mental health, and youth justice issues and their impact on young people.Understanding of Trauma-Informed Practices and Care.Knowledge of the effects of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) on young people (or willingness to undertake training).MHFA certification.An interest in various hobbies, e.g., woodwork, craft, gardening, food, and cooking.Appointments will be subject to: Australian residency/visaSatisfactory National Police check (within 3 months)Current C or A class driver's licenseFirst Aid CertificateVerification of identification by the Department of Justice (DOJ) prior to appointmentSuitable referee checksOur Culture Hope strives to provide a safe workplace and promotes progressive policies prioritising the health, safety, and unique needs of our team.
