Kununurra Landfill Gate Attendant Casual Role The East Kimberley is an extraordinarily beautiful and sparsely populated area in the northeast corner of Western Australia, and is known as one of the world's last wilderness frontiers. The Opportunity We are looking for Landfill Gate Attendant to join our Waste Management Team to provide landfill and gate attendant services at the Kununurra Landfill site to ensure the efficient operation of the Waste disposal site. This role is responsible for: Providing high quality customer service to residents, contractors and business owners at all times (face to face, via phone or in writing) in accordance with the Shire's Customer Service Charter; Carry out duties in accordance with Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) License Requirements and the Shire's Waste Management Plan; Operate boom gate and/or weighbridge; Conduct prestart checks; Keep accurate computer-based records relating to waste received and distributing in accordance with policies, organisational directives and procedures; Process cash and EFTPOS payments; Maintain waste registers; Monitor and inspecting vehicles, checking loads of rubbish for asbestos, oil, tyres, batteries, chemicals and other hazardous goods and ensuring waste complies with Kununurra Landfill license requirements; Directing customers to correct tipping areas and arranging for assistance where required; Undertake general housekeeping/cleaning duties of gatehouse and site as required in order to maintain a safe, clean and tidy work area; Contribute to the development of site procedures and documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). A current Blue/White Construction Safety Card and unrestricted WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence are essential for this role, as is demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and to provide a high level of service to members of the public and knowledge of waste site procedures and relevant legislation. You will have highly developed data entry skills and computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, good time management skills, developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and a passion for safety in the workplace.
