The Opportunity: Komatsu Mackay Branch are seeking an experienced workshop manager to join the leadership team at the Mackay customer support facility.
Reporting to the branch manager, this newly created position will be responsible for the day-to-day support and leadership for a large team of mechanical fitters, HV Electricians, Auto Electricians, and Project planning team, working on ultra-class Komatsu mining equipment, involving zero-hour machine rebuilds, new machine assembly and commissioning along with mining machinery component rebuilds.
Monday to Friday role - Attractive Salary package - Base + Super + Short-term Incentive Bonus + Vehicle or Vehicle allowance Role Located: Mackay Key Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with interdepartmental teams, such as parts and equipment sales teams. Strong focus on 5S, HSSE, K-Way continuous improvements in the workplace. Manage the customer relationship by attending monthly site meetings with customers and performing routine visits at least quarterly to customers with smaller fleets. Develop a culture of training and development for the team by providing a minimum of 5 days technician training for WIP employees. Promote a safe and efficient work environment by performing a field safety and 5S audit quarterly and actioning any non-conformance. Ensure WIP is managed effectively by driving a culture where the work order is opened correctly with all the correct information, then monitor WIP reports weekly to ensure all work orders are invoiced no later than 60 days from last labour date. Provide a proactive approach to reduce rework by promoting a best practice approach for quality in performing repairs and investigating and implementing corrective actions for any rework that has occurred. Promote the Komatsu Customer Support Charter as the way we do business by having monthly reviews with your team on their CSC measures, standards, and performance. Apply a disciplined approach to expense control by looking for areas we can reduce unnecessary spend and reviewing all expense accounts monthly. Manage utilisation to the target of 75% by ensuring correct rosters and shifts are in place and overtime is controlled and authorised by supervisors, ensuring all lost time is justified and the Workshop Manager must approve all lost time that is overtime.
