Position Overview:
As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will lead the design, automation, and optimisation of advanced manufacturing processes and equipment.
This role involves integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components to streamline production, improve efficiency, and ensure functionally safe, high-quality output, and high-volume throughput.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design automated solutions for manufacturing equipment, contributing to the scalability and reliability of our production systems.

Reporting to: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Manufacturing Process Automation:
Design and implement automated manufacturing systems to optimise the production of Aeroperm soft magnetic ribbon and processes for the creation of stator cores.
Perform and document risk assessments to industry best practice.
Develop advanced functionally safe control algorithms.
Integrate sensors, and actuators to ensure seamless process automation and precision.
2.
Equipment Design & Integration:
Lead the design and integration of mechatronic systems within production equipment, ensuring mechanical, electrical, and software components function cohesively.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify process inefficiencies and propose solutions for automation and equipment improvements.
3.
System Development & Prototyping:
Oversee the development, prototyping, and testing of automated systems, ensuring high reliability and scalability in production environments.
Develop and optimise mechanical, electrical, and software systems for manufacturing equipment.
4.
Collaborative Innovation:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to drive innovation in automated manufacturing processes.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians working on process automation projects.
5.
Process Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
Implement real-time monitoring systems for manufacturing processes to track performance, identify inefficiencies, and ensure continuous improvement.
Analyse data from automated systems to drive decisions on process adjustments and enhancements.
6.
Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure that all systems and equipment comply with industry safety standards legislation, and regulations.
Maintain thorough documentation of designs, system integrations, and process improvements.
Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong experience in designing and automating manufacturing processes, including control systems, robotics, and sensor integration.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, C++, or PLC programming).
Experience with industrial automation platforms and tools such as PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to solving complex automation challenges.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechatronics or automation engineering, with a focus on manufacturing process design and optimisation.
Proven experience in leading automation projects in a manufacturing or production environment.
Hands-on experience with system integration, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
Working knowledge of IEC 61511, IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 Functional Safety Standards well regarded.
