The role of the Kitchenhand is to assist the Kitchen Supervisor and Cook in providing a nutritious, varied, and quality food service to young people and staff of the Brisbane and West Moreton Youth Detention Centres.This position will be rewarding as you are contributing to the delivery of services to support some of the most vulnerable youths in our community.Are you an experienced kitchenhand who has worked in a fast-paced, commercial kitchen? Do you have good knife skills and produce consistent results? Are youpassionate about providing fresh nutritious meals to the most vulnerable youths in our community? Do you want a lifestyle roster with no split shifts or night work? As a kitchen team member, you will receive penalty rates for weekend and public holiday shifts. There are also opportunities for overtime and higher duties in the cook positions for the right candidate.We are seeking energetic, honest, and reliable casual staff to join our kitchen team. Successful applicants may be engaged in day shifts, with weekend rosters also available. Start and finish times will vary; however, shifts will be scheduled between 6.00am and 6.00pm.As Kitchenhand You Will Specifically: Assist in the preparation and provision of nutritious and varied meals to young persons and staff.Adhere to the security and safety of the Youth Detention Centres by observance of operational procedures and standards as they impact on kitchen processes and procedures.Maintain a hygienic, safe, and secure working environment, including cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment.Assist in the control of stores and provisions.Contribute to an effective system of stock control, e.g., recording and stocktakes.Undertake administrative procedures in the food services area, including procedures for ordering, storing, and distributing stores.Please see the attached role description for how to apply.Occupational group: Services & Hospitality
