As a Kitchen Hand at Queensland Parliament, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen staff, particularly in cleaning and storage tasks.
Your responsibilities will include:Food Preparation: Assist in the cleaning and preparation of a variety of foods, including vegetables, seafood, fruits, and salads, as directed by our skilled cooking staff.General Cleaning Duties: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as waste removal and floor cleaning to maintain a spotless kitchen environment.Equipment Cleaning: Follow established procedures to clean various kitchen equipment, including ovens and cold rooms, ensuring everything is in top condition.Support Tasks: Help with the delivery and movement of equipment and catering supplies to different service areas within the Parliamentary complex.Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as required and take direction from senior Front of House and Administrative Officers for operational duties.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience NeededCommunication Skills: Well-developed oral and written communication skills.Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with the team.Catering Knowledge: Sound knowledge of general catering practices, including food preparation, presentation, storage, client service, and inventory control.Safety and Hygiene: Strong understanding of safety and hygiene practices to ensure a safe working environment.
