Role Overview:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for process package designs. You will lead mechanical engineering efforts on projects, oversee technical deliverables, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering:
Lead the design of mechanical systems and equipment for process packages, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and project requirements.
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the accuracy and quality of deliverables.
Project Coordination:
Work closely with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders to align project objectives and schedules.
Package Engineering:
Oversee the design, specification, and selection of equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, and pumps for process packages.
Vendor Liaison:
Engage with vendors and suppliers for equipment selection, technical clarifications, and ensuring timely delivery of packages.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure designs adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including ASME, API, and Australian codes and standards.
Review and Approvals:
Perform technical reviews of drawings, calculations, and specifications, and approve final deliverables.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement improvements to processes and tools to enhance efficiency and quality in project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (recognized by Engineers Australia).
8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within the Oil & Gas sector, with significant experience in process package design.
Proficient in industry-standard design tools (e.g., PV Elite, ANSYS, AutoCAD, or similar).
Strong understanding of Australian and international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AS).
Proven track record in delivering engineering projects within budget and schedule constraints.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility to obtain certification is preferred.
