The role:
As a Wildlife Officer at our Proserpine prawn farm, you will play a crucial role in protecting our stock by effectively managing predatory wildlife.
Responsibilities:
Safely and responsibly operate firearms and animal trapping devices, prioritising environmental protection and minimising risks to personnel, equipment, and product. Conduct regular inspections of ponds, monitoring for any issues related to prawns, water quality, or introduced substances. Promptly escalate any significant predatory wildlife issues to appropriate personnel. Maintain accurate data records and generate weekly reports on wildlife activity and control measures. Provide support with other farm tasks as required. Role requirements:
Must hold current and valid licenses for operating firearms and animal trapping devices. A valid driver's licence. Basic technology skills, including the ability to use an iPad. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The legal right to work in Australia. Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory National Police Check. Role offerings:
Competitive hourly rate of $32-$34 per hour. Additional $360 per fortnight (pro-rata) prawn farming allowance. 2/2/3 roster with a long weekend every second week.
