Stanley Kawalsky was born in Cape Town. He attained the degree of B.Comm from the University of Cape Town in 1967. He then went on to qualify as an attorney in 1973 and a few months later was invited to be a partner at one of Cape Town's most established and respected legal firms then known as Frank Bernadt and Joffe. He was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1989 and became a partner at Dwyer Thomas Barristers and Solicitors before opening his own practice in 1996.
