Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunity We are seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to join our Business Planning & Commercial team in the Perth office.
You will have strong experience engaging with External Contractors and Suppliers to provide day-to-day administration of the Company's service contracting functions and to liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Company's contracting and approval procedures/policies.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential: Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, Law, Accounting, Commerce, or related disciplines Strong understanding of principles of contract management and commercial negotiation with practical experience Previous experience or similar role in a blast and haul mining operations context Practical experience in the use of contractual documentation, including goods supply, services and project type of contracts Advanced change management Advanced risk management Large value and complex contracts exposure Advance contracts claim and dispute resolution experience Certificate in Contracts and Commercial Management (e.g. CIPSA, CCMP or CCMAP) is desirable Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams) and previous experience in SAP National Police clearance Key Duties: Managing high value/complex pre-contract and post-contract activities, including but not limited to procurement needs analysis, the implementation of contracting planning; review and development of scope of works; Rfx or ITT document preparation, submission, receipt, evaluation and award recommendation; progress claim and contractual claim assessment, contract variations, extension, termination or close out Interpreting complex contractual requirements and obligations Managing primary contractor and contractor performance Providing specialist commercial advice and developing implementing practical strategies to manage complex/high risk contracts Management of contractor insurance and contracts register Assisting in the management of any disputes or contractual legal matters Working with stakeholders to develop planning, actions and accountability Developing problem solving plans with stakeholders and driving solutions initiatives Transparent information flow, presenting to stakeholders Mentoring and developing junior contracts administrators as required To be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.
