Kafka Architect - NV1 or NV2 Security Clearance Required Sestra People have partnered with a growing Data & AI Consultancy with a focus on intelligence transformation & integration. This role is a secondment into a top secret end-client within the federal government landscape and is for a seasoned Architect who is happy to sit as an individual contributor, influencing the roadmap and strategic design of the client's streaming capabilities and Data architecture.
This is a full time, permanent role based in Canberra with a hybrid 3 days a week in the office. Demonstrated commercial experience in Data & Software Architecture is a must, and ideally you will come from a hands-on background with Kafka and Confluent.
What You'll Be Doing Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant Kafka architectures to support the organisation's data processing and streaming requirements Oversee the deployment, configuration and maintenance of Kafka clusters Develop and optimise Kafka producers, consumers and connectors to integrate with various data sources and downstream systems Monitor Kafka performance, identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and reliability Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into Kafka-based solutions Stay up-to-date with the latest Kafka developments and best practices, and introduce innovative solutions to improve the platform What You'll Need: Significant experience (5+ years) as a Kafka Architect or Senior Kafka Developer Proven expertise in designing, implementing and managing Kafka-based architectures at scale in Confluent Cloud Strong programming skills in Java, Scala or Python, with a deep understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures Proficient in Kafka administration, configuration and troubleshooting Familiarity with Kafka ecosystem tools and related technologies (e.g. Zookeeper, Confluent Platform, Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively Effective communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams Next Steps: This particular role is for Canberra based candidates with an active security clearance.
