K-12 Sports Coordinator (non-teaching role) Summerland Christian College – Goonellabah NSW

FTE: 1.0 38 hours per week
Summerland Christian College is currently accepting applications for a K-12 Sports Coordinator to join our team in Term 1, 2025 or by negotiation. Applications close: 5pm Sunday 27 October, 2024. The College may interview and/or employ suitable candidates before the closing date.
Summerland Christian College
Summerland Christian College is a T to 12 school located in Goonellabah on the NSW North Coast. The College also offers a transition to Trindy (transition to Kindergarten) program. The College is governed by Centre Church Lismore and is affiliated with Christian Schools Australia. The College has provided interdenominational Christian education in the local area since 1978. Continuing to grow, it is now in the process of double streaming from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The role requires insight and vision and will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to show courageous future-focused leadership in leading and developing Sport across the whole College and Secondary (7-12) camp programs. This role includes responsibility for the College's annual sports carnivals which includes Swimming, Athletics, and Cross-Country, as well as coordination of gala days, interschool Zone, and State (CSSA / CIS) competitions. The role also includes the supervision and development of staff such as providing in-services, guidance, and advice, building of teacher morale, organization of meetings, and addressing parental questions and the coordination of SCC teams. The K-12 Sports Coordinator will assist the Leadership Team in the development of sport, planning, and the administration of Secondary (7-12) camps program for the College.

Contribute to the development and leading of the realization of the College's vision for sport, Secondary (7-12) camps, and extra-curricular physical activity participation levels, enjoyment, achievement, and outcomes for students.
Indicative Responsibilities
Contribute to the Leadership of positive cultural change that harnesses the resources at the College's disposal for the benefit of the broader College community as it relates to Sport and Secondary camps (7-12). Take responsibility for preparation of sport and Secondary (7-12) camp dates for the College's calendar. Develop positive partnerships with students, parents, and staff to foster an encouraging, challenging sporting environment that focuses on the development of high levels of skill, sportsmanship, and participation in and outside of the College. Ensure that WHS and Child Safe requirements are met and procedures for meeting these standards are recorded. Develop and maintain a development plan for K-12 sport including requirements for facilities. Build relationships with wider community agencies and oversee sporting organisations, such as application of "Sports in Schools" grants and communication with local sporting clubs and bodies. Liaise with Maintenance Team to ensure that grounds and facilities are ready in good time for all sporting activities. Attend sports meetings, as required, of related organisations including Zone, CSSA, and CIS. Attend Professional Development programs such as Conferences and Workshops provided by relevant sporting and educational organisations. Liaise with the College's Communications Officer and assist with the promotion of sport and Secondary (7-12) camps at SCC through our Bulletin, and other social media platforms. Co-ordinate Annual College Carnivals (Swimming, Athletics, and Cross Country) Key Outcome
Coordinate annual College carnivals that engage a maximum number of students as possible, that contributes to the positive culture of the College and provides opportunity for students to progress in a well-prepared manner to more competitive levels of competition.
Indicative Responsibilities
Train staff and allocate functions. Ensure each event has an appropriate Risk Assessment and Management Plan that is communicated to all responsible persons (submit to Deputy Principal in a timely manner for approval before distribution). Write programs. Maintain College records. Prepare SCC Zone Team information and administration. Organise and transport all equipment to carnival and run the day (seeking out appropriate assistance). Organise transport. Zone/CSSA/CIS – Talented Students School Representative Pathways Key Outcome
Coordinate the communication of opportunities, and the administration for, Primary and Secondary students who are eligible for attendance at Zone/CSSA/CIS trials.
Indicative Responsibilities
Complete Team Nominations when SCC Teams advance beyond the Zone Level. Ensure each event has an appropriate Risk Assessment and Management Plan that is communicated to all responsible persons (submit to College Executive in a timely manner for approval before distribution). Maintain knowledge of Primary and Secondary Trial Dates for Zone, CSSA, and CIS State Trials. Inform students when Trials are being held (maintain knowledge of what students possibly could attend trials and develop process to communicate with parents about eligibility). Complete Trial Nominations when a student wants to attend a trial. SCC Teams Key Outcome
To promote the value of SCC Team sport participation for interested students and encourage and coordinate maximum staff participation in team coaching, administration, and support. To enhance skill and character development in students through the participation in SCC sporting team opportunities.
Indicative Responsibilities
Submit entry. Delegate coaching roles or supervision to other staff (liaise with HOS and HOP). Ensure each event has an appropriate Risk Assessment and Management Plan that is communicated to all responsible persons (submit to College Executive in a timely manner for approval before distribution). Organise trials for SCC Team selection. Support teachers/coaches in organising training for all sports. Liaise with communications officer re: writing of SCC Bulletin and Social Media reports for each sport and other Sport promotions. Respond to parent requests or questions. Organise transport. Create and distribute permission notes. Co-ordinate Secondary (7-12) Camps Key Outcome
To promote the value of Secondary (7-12) camp program and partner with the deputy Principal in ensuring the current and future camp program achieves desired outcomes for all students. To enhance skill and character development in students through the participation in camp opportunities.
Indicative Responsibilities
Pre-planning of camp program. Administration of Risk Assessments, itinerary planning, booking of venue service providers and transportation including the acquisition of quotations, permission notes, first aid equipment preparation, parent, and student communication.
